The Collection Services Unit is responsible for purchasing, managing and assessing the library's general collection including print books, ebooks, journals, databases, streaming video, and other library materials.
Our work includes:
- Purchasing new resources
- Managing subscriptions to current resources
- Spending the allotted budget responsibly
- Maintaining access to library resources
- Assisting students and faculty with access issues
- Preserving print materials for continued use
- Shepherding the process of reviewing current materials for deselection and cancellation
We keep close count of the materials we currently provide:
- Books - 716,937 volumes
- eBooks - 2,250,289 titles
- Serials - 231,374 titles
- Databases - 517
- Media - 260,310 titles (including DVDs, LPs, Streaming video, etc.)
- US Government Documents - 691,874 documents
- NC Government Documents - 49,851 documents
